Financial Regulators
Bangladesh's financial system is supervised by a set of specialised statutory authorities, each overseeing a distinct segment of the market — from banking and the capital market to insurance and microfinance.
The principal regulators
Each authority operates under its own mandate, working together to maintain stability, transparency and investor confidence across Bangladesh's financial markets.
Bangladesh Bank
The central bank of Bangladesh — regulator of banks and non-bank financial institutions.
Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission
Regulator of the capital market and its intermediaries, including the Dhaka (DSE) and Chittagong (CSE) stock exchanges.
Insurance Development & Regulatory Authority
The Insurance Authority — regulating life and non-life insurers operating in Bangladesh.
Microcredit Regulatory Authority
Regulator of Micro Finance Institutions across Bangladesh.
Regulator of Capital Market Intermediaries
Responsibility for regulating capital market intermediaries sits with the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission.
As an SEC-licensed asset manager, ACAML and its peers operate within the framework set by the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC). BSEC authorises and supervises the institutions that connect investors to the market — including asset managers, merchant banks, brokerage houses, trustees and custodians — alongside its oversight of the Dhaka (DSE) and Chittagong (CSE) stock exchanges.
